About
What is REMOTE SPACE?
Background
At present, automated driving is becoming more and more popular in the automotive field, but with current technology, drivers cannot completely separate themselves from the control of the car. The purpose of this project is to help drivers maintain concentration on the road conditions in an automated driving environment.
Purpose
1.Pay attention to the road conditions at all times
2.Prevent the driver from taking off the steering wheel

Data Details
Tesla’s "Full Self-Driving" software from around 12,000 vehicles to almost 400,000 in about a year.

The Washington Post analyzed NHTSA's numbers and found that Autopilot was involved in 736 crashes since 2019, including 17 fatalities.

Krome et al.
Making in-car music interactive and align music creation with the progression of the traffic situation. It was proved as a creative activity promoting situational awareness while autonomous driving in difficult traffic.
p
Muguro et al.
Designed a driving simulation that integrated gaming as NDRT to enhance road detection. These games indicated general risk level of driving context rather than specific risky objects on the road.
Enhance user engagement
p
Togwell et al.
Explored the use of AR headsets to leverage passenger travel environments.
p
Lakier et al.
Identified the potential for "cross car" multiplayer games played among occupants in nearby vehicles.
Conclusion
There has been a lack of games that effectively combine pleasurable experience with positive influences to SA.
Furthermore, the influence of different game styles on SA and drivers' experience remains unclear.
Gamification, a promising approach
Gamification is defined as the utilization of game design elements in non-game contexts.
icon
Goals and Tasks
Set up meaningful game backgrounds and clear missions.
icon
Progress and fulfillment
When a certain amount is reached, milestone rewards are given.
icon
Unknown and Curiosity
Motivate users with unknown rewards.
icon
Creativity and Feedback
Creative games with unexpected results.
icon
Ownership and Acquisition
Set the collected objects for the user.
icon
Loss and Escape
If the player fails to act in time, the reward will be lost or the opportunity will be missed.
icon
Social Influence and Relevance
Multiplayer games in which players compete or cooperate together.

Scarcity and Desire
Make the collection have a variety of scarcity properties.
How to take the advantages of gamification to improve situation awareness?
Design Purpose
Pay attention to the road conditions at all times
p
Convert real-time traffic information into a gamification design that can be played on car play, changing the driver's attention to the road conditions in a fun way.
Prevent the driver from taking off the steering wheel
p
Even in autonomous driving mode, the driver still needs to keep his hands on the steering wheel so that he/she can quickly take control of the driving when necessary.
p
Danmaku game
The visual effects of Danmaku games are similar to traffic flow.
Game Type
A.Offensive mode
B.Defensive mode
p
Steering wheel peripherals
The game requires a joy-con to operate. If the steering wheel is used as a joy-con, the driver needs to keep holding the steering wheel.

pp
Conclusion
Choose defensive mode
1. Offensive mode requires the driver to move the car, which does not conform to real road conditions.
2. Defensive makes the driver more alert and raises the awareness of the need for "self-defense"
Steering wheel peripherals Design
Game Operation
The shield takes the car body as the center of the circle and can rotate freely 360 degrees.
p
Keep hands on the steering wheel
p
Conclusion
Choose Encoder wheel
The Encoder wheel can be adapted to the driver's grip position and can be moved up and down with the thumb.

Conclusion
1. Use 3D white models for visual packaging to reduce the cost of information transformation
2. Using the wavelength effect to represent ‘vehicle attack’ can better express the ‘safe distance’

1
Get Encoder wheel input
After successfully blocking, the radar disappears.
2

After successfully blocking, the side car turns gray and drives away.

After the block fails, the side car turns blue and there are blue light prompts on both sides of the interface.

p
Conclusion
Many testers failed to block either because they were unable to react centrally or because they were traveling too fast and were unable to react in time. The radar wavelength can be modified under different road conditions to give users enough reaction time.
02
After blocking, the vehicle still in the dangerous range
p
p
Conclusion
In a traffic jam, vehicles on both sides will continue to be in dangerous areas. The judgment time should be increased by 10 seconds after blocking. If the vehicle on the side exceeds 10 seconds, it needs to be reset.

p
ppp
Conclusion
The side vehicle will issue an emergency prompt whenever it wants to turn, allowing the driver to pay attention to the real environment in advance and stop the game at this time.
